Do student college IDs scan? (IDViking) ( link )

Has anyone ordered a student id from Viking? Do they scan? Just wondering because some events at my school scan the barcode on student IDs, even for the gym. I'm looking to get an extra one for someone.

When they are scanning barcodes for building access, it will usually look up the person in a database. For example, access to dining halls scan your student ID, check to see if it's in the database, and add a swipe to your student account. You can't really fake that, since you would essentially have to hack into the database to add a fake student/change age.

So the scanners at your school are likely not just straight up reading info from a barcode, they are checking the info from the barcode against a master database. This makes it basically impossible to fake.
