Had a larger group that wanted Indiana IDs for use in a nearby Midwest state. Went with Lost Identification for logistical reasons.
I have to get these IDs delivered to the customers so this is going to be a shorter review and there will be no comparison to a physical.
I have a hard copy of the 2019 Keesing Document checker guide, and I am familiar with the Indiana ID, have held one in hand before. So with that, let’s get started:
Communication/CS [9/10]: Pretty decent. When I had a question the CS responded in under 24hrs-with the caveat that this was only by email or on the Fakeidlist.net forum. Those are pretty much the only reliable ways to contact this CS, and it seems email is the better of those two options. Regardless the actual communication and service is fine.
Cost [6/10]: The ID starts at 75 a pop and can be brought down as low as 45 an ID, the rate at which this group purchased them at. Those prices are relatively competitive, however I would like to see some things changed given the price point, more on that later.
Shipping [8/10]: Using crypto, this entire turnaround was 23 days. Given the nature of the reshipping method and the domestic carrier used, this is pretty reasonable, however the online “proof of shipment” photos are a little slow to update. Really in absence of those just having a CS rep pop up and say: “Stuff is happening” is better than nothing.
Signatures [9/10]: Out of the many IDs, only one signature looked bad, and I am marking that up to user error on the customer that submitted it. Still downsizing it would have fixed the issue somewhat, but the signature work overall was good.
Template [7/10]: If one phrase could sum up my thoughts: So close. While overall this is one of the better temp’s I’ve seen from this vendor, there are very small improvements that would be very easy to fix. 1st Easy fix: Kent W. Abernathy has not been the commissioner in a LONG time. Peter Lacy is the current commissioner and none of these IDs are printing with 2015 issue dates so while it won’t be noticed by many bouncers out of state, all it takes is one bouncer to notice it, and given how easy of a fix it is and how long those guys stay in office, it seems like a no brainer to just correct it.
The 2nd thing overall is feel: This has a stiffer feeling in hand and when flexed than any Actual IN ID I’ve felt, and it could be the mil of the Teslin or the sticker layer, but when flexed/bent in hand it just feels too different. Again I really don’t see this as being an issue in most of the Midwest but the closer you get to Indiana, be warned.

Credit where credit is due: The pink bar, despite what I’ve seen in other reviews-is quite nicely done. Scans of IN IDs/The Barbook may make it appear darker, but every IN ID I’ve seen is on the lighter side. The State seal also looks very nice up close, which has not happened in the past for some states from this vendor. So in that sense, the template has a lot of promise, but just needs very small tweaks to make it a solid choice for users who may end up using it in bordering states.
Photoshop [6/10]: Something I’ve began to notice about Lost’s PS across multiple states: When a customer’s photo doesn’t seem to fill out the portrait to their standards, they will do some clone stamp and mask work to extend that person’s shirt/hoodie etc. until it is flush with the frame of the portrait.
The end result is that half of these IDs look like they belong to people doing the T-Pose or who just have way too much left shoulder. On the IDs where they didn’t do this, the photo looked much more natural. While I assume whoever made this choice has more Photoshop and RTP experience than I do, my vote all the same is to not do this.
Other than that, Photoshop work was good, however if you want to take it to the next level for this state, crop the photos closer to the face, as this is how most IN photos are done.
Sticker [6/10]: Indiana IDs don’t have OVIs or Holos as much as they have a thin security overlay on the back and front. On the front, there are OVI like designs. This ID has what appears to be full coverage sticker on the front with those elements, and a full coverage sticker on the back. Every real ID I’ve seen has a gap around the edge of the Overlay, as in it is not flush. I believe the use of a full sticker is contributing to the IDs more rigid in hand feel. Regardless, the elements on the front are there and show up well.
UV [7/10]: This one I’m torn on because I got in contact with CS about whether or not Production was aware they had not inverted some of their ghost images properly, and given the timing of my contact with them, I figured there was a good chance while the issue may be fixed, this batch of IDs would probably still have it due to being already made.
All these IDs do indeed have ghost images that are not properly inverted-as indicated in the photo, the UV should show a portrait backdrop as well as the photo, however only the “cutout” shows and shows inverted. The rest of the UV layer is done correctly (Name and DOB) and in the right spot, but the ghost image was wrong on these. I do not know if the issue has been fixed at production for ongoing IDs, all I know is the CS said production had been made aware of it.
Indiana has no back UV ink.
Scanning [10/10]: Pulled the AAMVA data, nothing looks off, no whack jurisdictions etc. Scanned them on BCS “for the kids” and they all passed.
Wrapping it Up: I am hesitant to recommend this ID because while it has strengths, it also has weaknesses. If you are on the coasts or otherwise far away from Indiana, this is not a bad ID at all, given that they address their UV layer. With a few small fixes, this ID would be a great choice for the Midwest at this price point, however at the current price point, I would wait for some of the issues to be worked out. With that I would say this a "middle of the road" ID, not enough flaws to be not recommend, not enough going for it right now to be fully recommended or worth the 75 USD price of a single pair.
