So, I've been trying to slowly catch up with review IDs, and this is the only one I currently have on me that I still need to review lol. I got this ID a while back to review for OIS. I was really excited to get it because this seems to be the ID people hype up a lot from OIS. The ID came in about 2 weeks along with some others. Basic stealth and good CS from OIS as per usual. So, here's my review
- Holo - So Cali is overall a simple ID, just like the majority of the west coast and Midwest. The holo on this ID is simple and as per usual doesn't seem to stick out too much to the point it looks fake. Simply a state seal and "DMV" near the top. The state seal is relatively visible even without light, but the DMV holo needs a fair amount of light to be seen which in my opinion is a good thing.
- Template - So, in terms of texture and feel, this ID is relatively thin with a matte feel. What I do like however is the raised text feels different in comparison to their other states like UT. The signature is raised, as well as the DOB on the front AND back, and the DOB is also raised on the ID photo. It doesn't stick off too much like other IDs they make, it's raised and feels very nice to the touch. The laser perforation of the Bear and state can be seen even in dim lighting which is always good. One critique I have is the panhandler's pan slightly overlaps one of the ghost photos, but not by much. Also, one ID had some QC issues with glue or something at the top right, but I was able to get it off myself (and if I wasn't I trust OIS would have reprinted). The microprint isn't big enough to read without squinting which is usually a good sign. The colors on the front are fine, but the back looks a lot better in my opinion. The sunset colors off of the beach pier look great I think it's pretty well done.
- UV Light - The UV on this ID is pretty nicely done, lots of color variation. The front has the golden gate bridge in a nice bright green along with the DOB. There is also a subtle orange UV on the front and a blue Ghost image. My critiques for this is that the DOB and Ghost Image can be seen even without a UV light if there is enough light on it. I would assume this is because of these are custom made for each ID? Moving onto the back, the UV on the front can be seen on the back (something a lot of thin fake IDs have a problem with), but hopefully the orange UV on the back can take some of the focus off of that. Overall, looks good for what OIS is able to do.
- PS and Sig - Not going to spend too much time on the PS. Looks like what it always does as I use the same picture. The Signature looks good as it's raised and the smaller sig on the back is a nice touch as well.
- Conclusion - This ID receives a lot of hype. It's a good ID for the West Coast for sure, but I'm not sure it's ISP like the claims I've seen for it. If I lived in a border state, I would definitely feel confident with this ID. But, being an East Coast guy, I think I'm going to stick with using their NY and nDE for now. Still, a good choice for people looking for a Cali ID, and I believe they just decreased the price! I've also heard some people use their u21 Cali ID as in some cases it can be more believable, so there's that option as well!
http://imgur.com/a/JWB5Nv5 apologies for the UV pics, they kept coming out blurry and the pics really don't do justice. Imma get an iPhone soon lol
