Problem with OIS Rhode Island ID's ( self )

Hi, I'm quite new here but I just got my nRI in the mail recently and am thoroughly impressed with it apart from one major downside that will get it turned down in places that actually pay attention to ID's.

Rhode Island, as of December 3rd 2018 starting issuing "Real ID" which is completely the same as the new design but has a very noticeable yellow circle containing a star to indicate that it is a new "Real ID". The issue however in my case is that mine does not have the star, and I was forced to put the issue date to a date AFTER my ID says I turned 21. Since I am quite young looking, I had to have a relatively recent date at least to try to pass this thing off. Using a date before the new "Real ID" date gives this error on the website: https://i.imgur.com/ceKVSKj.png .

I am rather unhappy at this point that OIS hasn't paid any attention to this or maybe that nobody else has noticed. Not sure where to go from here but it is highly likely that my nRI and duplicate will not be accepted in places I'd like to use it at because of the 2019 ID handbook that most large places have now for security.

Aside from this major flaw, I am thoroughly impressed with the UV, microprint, scan and (for the most part) alignment. Some bits aren't very straight but that's okay.

Anybody got an idea on what to do? Thanks

How can you be mad at this vendor, when you bought it on his site with a picture of it showing no star.

Oversight on the buyer as well. We all can see the picture on ois site, so ois delivered exactly what his site says it would.

I'm not mad I just thought it should be brought to attention that they don't let you put the issue date back further than your DOB even though there is no U21 license in RI, because of this "Real ID" thing.

In my state Real ID is something that is optional, don't know about Rhode Island though

I see, there's a possibility of that with these but then I think there must be a required "NOT FOR FEDERAL IDENTIFICATION" somewhere on it, from what I've seen with new non-"Real" ID's. They have to include it (I think) somewhere so that people can't board planes, military bases, etc. because it's just a DL.

Edit: Rhode Island DMV states that it's not mandatory but I still have a fear of the "NOT FOR FEDERAL IDENTIFICATION" missing to make it super clear that it's not "Real"

Ugh, kinda sucks now that I have to be the one to suffer for the better haha

Reach out to him about a reprint and mention the flaw, not guaranteeing anything but he's been pretty understanding to me in the past
