There is at least 3 different blue photo backgrounds that I have seen on reals. They go from a dark blue to a greenish blue.

Yessir, outrageously annoying on the part of IL DMV.

We have 7 distinctly different shades, some being issued just months apart. The spectrum is pretty even, but looking at the lightest and the darkest is shocking really. While it can make our job hard, it also has the advantage of seriously confusing bouncers who know their shit. Bouncers who are experienced with IL know that it will vary so much, which has likely helped more than once with someone passing with something that isn't properly color matched to any particular physical. nIL is our bread and butter, so it is nice to see a solid vendor express how difficult it is to do properly.

-

They're printing the background micro/design with an offset, followed by large format inkjet for the variable data, backdrop, picture, and signature. They aren't all that concerned with the color matching up to anything in particular, so it seems like there are multiple batches and each time they need to run a new set of blanks, they are hand mixing inks to hit spot colors and not always ending up with the same thing each time.

-

This also explains the strange offset that phantom's IL normally has and IL fakes in the past have had. The variable data being printed lower on the older versions versus higher on the newer, with some odd balls here and there, is due to how they are loading the preprinted blanks into the big boy Epsons. If they are feeding too much or too little on the initial load of the roll, they will end up offset from what it was intended to be.

-

nIL also has some odd ball details here and there, like how Brown eyes should be BRO on the front according to AAMVA, but on nIL it is BRN on the front, but the barcode still correctly says BRO. Also, Blue eyes is spelled out as BLUE on the front but displays the correct BLU in the barcode.

I think we have nIL just about figured out... It's about time, we've shipped quite a few of them. I suppose it's time to go ahead and start the process all over again for a new state.

Kinda looks like you're impersonating someone with that username.

You should make a u21 WI. I don't think anyone makes those and they don't expire till you're 27

Ughhh bro youre making it too tempting to double up on nIL lol. But at the same time im close to Ohio and dickhead bouncers there deny 21 year olds just bc theyre from Illinois and immediately think fAkE

There are a number of unintentional mistakes that Illinois has made over the years on nIL that make it hard.
21done covered them well, but just when you think you've found them all, there are new ones. When they started doing realIDs for example they started fucking up in new ways.
I never saw anything like this with old IL, and it's simply a matter of training. The old setup was always local to DMVs, and now with teslin its a mix of local and an offsite contractor. I always suspect the wildin out physicals are coming from the local sites, but the DD doesn't actually seem to help me in figuring that out, as the DD is the same whether or not the ID was actually printed at a DMV site or at the offsite facility.
BTW when I @'d you in that other thread it wasn't to call you out or blast your work, I was just pointing out that the guy generally didn't know what he was talking about. Your nIL definitely isn't bad, but without even seeing a pic (At the time) I wasn't just going to blow it up, especially given all the nIL quirks.
