IDKing confiscated at liquor store ( self )

Anyone had this happen? Illinois fake used in Massachusetts got taken. It was scannable, he held the back of the card up to a computer, and he just says "Fake ID. I'm keeping this." and tells me to leave. It's worked in tons of other liquor stores and alcohol delivery places.

How do they even know?

Did it scan at this particular place when he put it up against the computer? Either he was bluffing you or he may have had a different software than other places. I could be wrong but things like AgeID or some that the ABC give people can sometimes/usually detect fakes
