ID Picture taking questions ( self )

First time doing this so needed some advise.

  1. My background is offwhite (slightly yellowish and not white). Is this acceptable?

  2. FYD suggested (on the website) that its better to go out and buy a light blue background. Is this better than a white background in terms of realistic looks wise? I know the final product always has a blue BG but would taking a picture from a camera with a blue background produce a quality photo...

  3. IDViking suggests that the camera should not be farther than 3 feet away but IDGod suggests that the camera should be at least 4-6 feet away. In your opinion what is the right distance?

  4. Some websites suggest that I take the picture waist up only but while some suggest only chest and higher. What option has served you better?

P.S: Sorry for these noobish questions. I wanted to place orders for multiple states from different vendors at the same time. I have a beard right now and wanted each picture to look different so i was going to shave/trim as i go this is why i can't take 1 picture and contact a vendor to see if that picture would work or not.

Ive been confused on this as well but learned it's really up to the person you're buying from. I read that I should buy a blue background so I did but after taking some pics realized the color was not the same as an ID background at all. Some vendors are better at photoshop than others so its up to you on who you trust. I recently put an order in from OIS and when asking them how to pics should be they just said it doesn't matter bc they will photoshop. As for how far away the pic should be, I think theyre just giving you reference but will crop them all the be the same. Just look at your own real ID and try to copy the pic as much as possible.

IDKing Vendor —

Just take a quality picture, I don't feel it's necessary entirely to go out and buy a blue background, just find a clear wall and take a clean picture, the rest is up to the photo shop gods ;)
