Intro: Got this ID from OldIronsidesFakes in a giveaway, here's my review. Spent a while on this one and gonna be more critical this time cuz I've seen a lot of these.
Communication: 10/10 - Replies quick as always
Shipping: 10/10 - Chose domestic option this time, came with stealth from the reshipper in the US which I didn't expect. Arrived 10 days after order placed.
Cost: 9/10 - Received from a giveaway, but the normal price is $100. Group pricing is a good deal.
Signature: 7/10 - Needs to be a pretty decent amount larger, both under the photo and the lens. Would look great otherwise.
Photoshop: 6/10 - The photo is too dark. Background should be like a white/very light grey. Skin should also be a lot lighter. There's also very little shadow behind the head on reals. The darkness of the photo is really the first thing I noticed when I looked at the ID.
Template: 7.5/10 - Gonna go into a bit of detail here...the template itself is pretty good which makes sense cuz it's really just a bunch of squiggly lines. Colors overall are decent, but the background needs to be lighter in a few spots. A little too turquoise on the back.
For text, all the blue on the front should be darker and the text a little bolder in general. I also think they got rid of "BMV" after the registrars name too on newer issues. The big transparent birth year in the background isn't the right font, too bold. On the back, there's a little bit of microprint missing and the warped text isn't quite perfect, but it's still pretty good. In the middle on the front of the ID, the print quality seems off. The microprint looks great on the back, but it's pretty blurry here.
Another thing I noticed is that the Real ID star needs to be more rounded and lower. Also, the photo on the back looks pretty good... which would normally be a good thing but every real nOH I've seen has a poo poo quality pic on the back. Could also be a tad lighter. Raised birthday below the photo should be a little farther up from the bottom of the card but feels pretty spot on.
Holo/OVI: 7/10 - OVI doesn't change colors the same. Reals look a little more gold straight on and shifts to green where fake shifts between gold and a sort of copper color.
UV: 7/10 - Although the pattern itself looks good, it's pretty bright and the blue shines through to the other side.
Scanning: 10/10 - Scans fine on BCS.
Look and Feel: This is my biggest concern with the ID (along with the photo being too dark). The card, while close to the correct thickness, is too flexible. It's also kinda translucent, bright light passes through. And... its matte :/ nOH should definitely be glossier. My OIS nAK honestly feels very similar to how nOH should be, in terms of the flexibility and finish... still one of the best feeling IDs I have.
And then there's the lens. I knew it wouldn't be perfect, it's about in line with what I expected after seeing past OIS IDs. It would probably fool someone who hasn't looked closely at a nOH before, but once you've seen it, it's a big giveaway since it doesn't shift the image. Makes a nice sound when you run your fingernail across it, but it's not as high-pitched as a real lens. The engraved text, on the other hand, is excellent, and while reals feel a little more defined, I would believe it's real.
Conclusion: Although the template itself would be great with a couple fixes, I would leave this ID to out of state use because of the material of the ID and the lens. A couple states away, I think this would be a pretty good ID.
