I've seen a lot of people asking about this ID so I figured I'd get my review of it out asap. I reached out to OIS to review this ID and received it in exchange for reviewing it.
I don't really have a very good source to compare this to since this ID isn't in the barbook I have. That being said, the security features are very similar to the ones on my real id, so I'll be using it for comparison.
First, let's talk about the material. OIS did a very good job with the finish and feel of this ID. It has a good glossiness to it and has good rigidity for an ID that is supposed to be polycarbonate. The problem is that it is noticeably too thick, only slightly thicker than my real polycarbonate ID. Another problem, which just might be with the ones I received, is that the two layers used weren't aligned properly and this created a somewhat noticeable lip on the edges of the ID. When dropped the sound is good, but not quite as metallic as a real ID. And I think this goes without saying, but I bent the ID end to end multiple times and it held up.
The next security feature I want to talk about is the laser engraving. I'd say overall OIS did a good job with these, but they stand out a little more on this ID than on my real and they definitely aren't as crisp. However, they did a good job with the micro-printed laser engravings, which I imagine aren't easy.
Next up is the raised text. The DLN, DOB, last name, and signature are raised. The raised feels pretty good and isn't too prominent. It didn't come off when I scratched it with my fingernails so I'd so it'll probably hold up to what most bouncers would do. However, on one of the ID's the DOB raised text has little spots missing, but I'd just say this is a small mistake, since it wasn't like that on the other ID.
The next security feature and arguably the most important is the lenticular lens. I must say, I had high hopes for this, but I was disappointed. The lenticular lens is completely non-functional and doesn't even shimmer or shine at the light, which I at least expected. This will be a dead giveaway to anyone that has ever seen a lenticular lens before. I will give OIS props for mimicking the feel of the cutout portion where the lens is, but that's about it. You're just gonna have to hope whoever is looking at this ID has either never seen a lenticular lens before or they don't realize that this ID is supposed to have one and just assume it's a ghost image.
The final security feature I wanna discuss is the OVI on the back. The back features an outline of the state of Georgia, that changes colors at different angles and this ID does a pretty good job of imitating that. I could make out three colors at different angles and lightings: red, gold and dark green. I'm not sure if that's the colors that are supposed to be visible, but I'd say it's probably right.
When it comes to the template I'm not going to go into too much detail since I don't have a good comparison. The microprinting and guilloche patterns look clear and crisp, which I have come to expect from OIS. I really can't speak to the colors, since I don't have scans. The greyscale on the picture does look a little dark.
Overall, this ID is definitely solid, but has some flaws that will get you caught at high end places. I would hold off on getting this ID until OIS has worked out some of the kinks.
