It depends on the state of the ID. Some states the bend test is a legitimate test. In some states, the real ID should be able to bend without issue like DE. However, fakes are often not heat sealed after they are laminated. So bend testing is a valid check, but only for some states. I'm not sure if VT should pass or not, but some states even the real ID will fail. For instance, NNY and nPA will both crease if bent.

In most instances, the bend test is not something that should be used. Although it is definitely an indicator of a novelty ID, it would be much better to look for smaller flaws (miscoloured, typos, and people not knowing their zip, and unable to do their signature). With the bend test, sometimes legitimate IDs are creased. MI IDs are generally considered bendable and thus are sometimes bended to test legitimacy but they do not bend well. For an actual MI ID, 30 degrees would probably not crease it. However, a 45 to 50 degree bend probably would.

Sorry, but your best bet is to buy another ID and avoid that bar. Bending is something actual IDs (some exceptions) are designed to handle.

Bend it the opposite way it was bent when it was creased.. then put it under a few heavy text books for a day... it may help hide the crease or make it pretty missable
