I can't speak for OIS but in regards to our MI, the laminates the DMV uses are satin cold press laminates. The process by which the IDs are laminated is extremely expensive and impractical for our purposes. Sourcing the satin lams by itself would be a monumentally expensive and difficult task as it requires trial and error bulk orders from different sources. The feel is not an instant callout because IDs feel different as they are used. The texture of the outside of all IDs, real or fake, tend to wear down and feel different over time. If you are that concerned with the feel, you also can apply krylon to make the feel smoother. We've done our best to try to replicate the feel of the real ID within the limits of our resources but unfortunately, it isn't perfect and it isn't something that will ever be perfected by anyone except for the DMV.

Thank you for the reply! Understandable. I'm glad I got a dupe now because I'm really tempted to try some krylon. Would 1323 be what I'm looking for or do you know of other customers that have had good results with another variant?

We don't use it ourselves (nor have heard any of our customers use it) so can't give a solid suggestion but that looks like it'd work - I'd suggest to try spraying it on some scrap paper first to try out.

If you do do it we would love to hear your results!

My OIS nPA doesn’t feel like that. It is not glossy enough though. The real nPA is super super glossy

Maybe I exaggerated a little but nevertheless I don't think my OIS PA feels anything like a real PA

Other than the difference in glossiness its very close. The temp should be shifted slightly up on the right side. The perfs are a little off to the left of the ghost image. Other than that the feeling is very similar holding them side by side

Perfs on real IDs are not all perfectly in the same place! There's a variance of ~2-3mm in positioning of perfs on our MI physicals. IDs are produced in steps at the DMV, not all at once.

I know there’s always some variance. I compared with 4 different real nPA and they’re all much more centered. Not worried OOS but in state is sketch because we have state stores for liquor

No they don't. Nobody does, you literally can't buy it without being a government, and the equipment setup for it is ridiculous. Don't shill.
