Yeah I know people have reviewed their MI before but they do update the template as well as other things on the ID.
According to their own site which states they have a “V5” coming out soon, the ID I reviewed is most likely the 4th version of their template.
Lucy stands out as one of the few vendors who focus on one Temp, and this along with their reputation has given them a sort of “high end” vibe that a few other vendors had back in the day. I decided to pick up two copies of their ID and try them around town.
Before I bring an ID out into the cold mean world, I do all the boring at home tests with the scanners and funny flashlights. After those tests, I try it at 4 different retail locations:
A Big Box, a Grocery Chain, a Gas Station, and a dedicated Liquor Store (Must only sell Liquor)
After That the ID is taken to two Bars/Clubs: A Location known for leniency, then just a normal club.
For me to recommend the ID, it must at least pass 2 out of Retail, and 1 out of the Venue Category.
As with anything you read on the internet, your mileage may and will vary. I look on the older side and have been using fakes for too long. The employee checking your ID is about 94 percent of this whole equation. The review is indicative of just my experience, which I have tried my best to take as much of the variance out of.
I have held an actual Michigan License before, I am familiar with feel, and the UV features. I was not able to get a physical in-hand for this review unfortunately, so the 2018 Barbook had to suffice, anyways here’s the review, one bite everybody knows the rules or whatever:
Communication/Customer Service: [10/10] No issues that needed to be brought up with CS occurred, so for the sake of evaluation I asked a question-reply was prompt, coherent, and pleasant. Under 24 HRS during a business day. Ticket system works well.
Cost: [9/10] Part of that “high end vibe” I talked about earlier is the 110 USD starting price, with fifty bucks for each dupe. 110 is not actually that high compared to most other vendors, and at their production size, they have no reason to throw in a free dupe. A duplicate and an ID would bring you to 160, and a competing vendors ID plus a special shipping add –on puts you around there too, and Standard shipping is free as of writing. All that and the quality considered, this is worth the price point. This is a solid investment for someone who’s owned fakes before and is comfortable using them. I think they have some program setup, but at time of writing the price is not competitive for large group orders.
Shipping [10/10]: Compared to the average vendor turnaround, fast (This was just over a week, whole process). Caveat: without going into OPSEC detail, I have reason to believe when I ordered resulted in a below average turnaround, and the website is transparent about how the times fluctuate based on batch status and time of year. The tracking tool is a great OPSEC compromise as well, really great engineering.
Signature: Complies with thickness size and placement of the actual temp.
Template: [10/10] What set this apart from older fakes I had was the attention to detail on the temp. The one state approach benefit is really showing here, as they clearly have had more time money and energy to focus on this temp. Microprint and detailing was examined under a 10X stand magnifier, and all micro print is present and is very close to how the actual print shows on an actual MI. In the past many MI fakes had print that was too large and was visible w/no magnification (Mac Bridge road specifically), but this ID does not have that issue. Bridge print is just as clear as bottom “SPECTACULARPENNINSULAS” which I mentally read as “Spectacular Penis” no matter how hard I try not to. Real ID star seems to fit in better when compared to actual one, the Star proportion and placement has been a trouble spot for past MIs. All fonts and Inks appear correct, the subtle change from “Driver’s License” to the ID number is noticeable as it should be, and backdrop color matches the DMV backdrop. Now if you’ve felt a fresh from renewal MI license, you know the Date of Birth has a few very subtle rough/ raised patches. These barely feel like anything fresh and most people are just feeling the OVI in reality. Lucy makes it clear that the temp you are buying does not have this, so I was not surprised to not find it, however I agree with the opinion they voiced when I asked them about it on this forum: It is not worth it, most real MIs have it come off over time. No vendor I know of at time of writing offers a raised text for this temp. With all that considered, I did not deduct a point for the lack of raised/rough DOB. …okay you get it, it’s not a bad template, it’s a good one. When using the ID in the field, I could tell that most employees were really sold by the template and feel of the lamination. This is great for bouncers who rely mostly on feel and template at the end of the day. Sure they look at you and most scan and UV, but as someone who’s been there, feel and temp matters. I am giving this my highest rating, but again, I had no physical in hand.
Photoshop: [7/10] I sent a bright photo. I’ve been doing this long enough to know better. Still shadow work and cropping was good, if not almost too subtle when compared to the imperfections and shadows of a real DMV photo which will often have some more dramatic ear and chin shadows. Overall this left a little to be desired, especially given how bad real MI photos are. To be clear my issue is that it looks too good, which is a slight Fake Tell, but part of this is my user error. Still, backdrop layer shopping wasn’t above 7 out of 10.
Holos and OVI:[ 10/10]One more time for the people in the back: That’s where the tri color bridge is supposed to go. Yes. Over your info and cascading onto your face. Yes. Seriously. Anyways it’s in the right place and on movement of the ID you can pick out a pink hue from reflection which is important for passing with people who know the ID well. They obviously are using some good shit for this OVI and it shows.
UV: [10/10] In the past the main issues people had with this ID were with inconsistent UV layers. I examined the UV with a 365nm True UV light (Nitecore Tube UV) in a poorly lit environment (Like outside a nightclub) and then a in dark room. Both the front and back UV show up as they should and look high quality. DOB on back has been redacted for dat sweet two way OPSEC, but it is there and clean. Ghost image is clear. Whatever issues they have had in the past, they are past them.
Scanning: [10/10] Lucy as a vendor probably is the most investment in the barcode I’ve seen in a long time. I wouldn’t be surprised if these folks get off to a picture of a 2D barcode. The commitment to getting these formatted and printing as “1:1” as possible is impressive. Their B R A N D term “True 1:1” means this should scan like a real MI does all the way up until a cop puts it into a MDT or it goes into an evil box scanner. The results of my scan test echoed that. It scanned and the magstrip was functional against every app and Point of sale system (Yes, even BCS was used) and the PDF417 data pull is formatted correctly. No one around me has pulled the trigger on Intellicheck, so everything it passed was on the lower security end of things. Based off it passing without falter at every scan and swipe and the formatting, this is a clear 10/10, and part of what your money is going to with that higher tag.
Wrapping it all Up: Send these folks a good photo and signature, and you will have invested in a really good ID. While I was hesitant to put 110+ into this, my experience testing and using it have convinced me it’s worth it. While I don’t consider the photo I sent them to be a lost cause PS wise and would have liked to see more work done, it was not a deal breaker overall. At the end of the day what I like about this ID is I feel confident enough in it to not worry about it as much as I might worry about myself, and that’s a sign of a good ID. Based off my overall experience, I would recommend this ID.

Disclaimer: I was not compensated in any way for this review, both ID’s I reviewed were purchased independently of the vendor and I have not in the past been compensated by this vendor.
Finally, this is my first review on this new iteration of the forum with this username. If this seems fishy to you, great, but I ensure this is my genuine opinion.
