Just curious. One of my shipments was a package of 3 tshirts addressed to a weird name but it didn’t even match the tracking number I was given so I was confused.

Alot of my tracking numbers are going to dead mail/recovery center and curious if it was an exit scam

I had an order come through last week but there was a USPS delay. The T-Shirts are probably because of a label mess up. If it went dead letter for real it would not have showed up, because anything of value gets sent back to last listed addy and anything not of value is thrown out. They also may have been erroneously scanned. It happens.

We had a large batch do this. It seems to be a USPS error/incompetence issue. Normally if that happens, while rare, the tracking will stop at that. In this case, the tracking updated the following day saying in transit, which does not happen in a real dead letter situation. Our shipping provider reached out to USPS and their response was that they had no idea, which is fitting. We were preparing to reship, and a package delivered. Then another, and another. It is a strange situation to be honest. Once delivered, the tracking updates all at once showing an entire, as would be expected tracking history with no mention of dead letter. Every day more are showing delivered, but they are all delivering at least a day or two after they should be. It is most likely an issue caused by a small town postal working making a mistake when scanning them in. Any orders that do not show as delivered on Monday will be reshipped Monday evening or Tuesday morning.
Wow, I just read the post in full... I was commenting after I saw "shipment" as we have been fielding questions via CS. Thank you for this information. Sounds like maybe tracking numbers got reused by USPS or by our shipper. Figuring it out now, will post an update soon.
