This is my ois vs. fyd north carolina comparison. Reviews for them individually are on my profile. This is to highlight aspects that are different between the two IDs. Having another ID from a different vendor makes it easier to find flaws in either ID, but don't take what I say 100% certain because I don't have a physical in hand :( I won't be keeping score to total it, it's up to you to decide what you want not a score I give them.
CS:
Both of their CS is very good and is kind. FYD's CS has done me a solid in the past. They roughly have the same response time. They're both on par with eachother in my opinion.
Photoshop:
OIS - Photo is centered, looks real, however ear shadows are more pronounced and darker
FYD - Centered photo that also looks real. Ear shadows are smaller.
Printing (Template/UV):
OIS - OIS has much better template+printing. Colors are much more vibrant and sharp that don't look as blurry. The lines are neat and clear. This goes the same for the UV on both sides. However OIS does not clearly have microprint text in the middle right side, it looks extremely faint like it's not even there. There also is a DUP written under the DL # (you can see this in the photo), this is not in my copy of barbook.
FYD - Lines and UV lines are blurry and not as clear. See photos below. The rest of the ID such as text and photo looks good. Raised DOB is bigger than OIS'.
OVI:
OVI on both IDs is pretty much the same color, size, and location. Not much to compare here. Equally they are subtle but still noticeable when looked at.
Signature:
OIS - Signature is a good size and thickness. Located well on the ID. However it is smaller than the FYD signature.
FYD - Also has good size and thickness and location, but it is a little bigger than OIS'. (Not too much)
Conclusion:
Overall both solid IDs and have never been questioned on legitimacy. FYD lacks in crisp lines (template & UV) and sharp color on the ID. Lack of microprint and the DUP on OIS template make me skeptical but shouldn't be an issue. For out of state either will work, but if you want to make a safe bet pick OIS.
