Hey! I’ve read the Shogun series by James Clavell, and I totally get why it’s so well-regarded. The first book, Shogun, is a fantastic starting point, and it really sets the stage for the rest of the series. It’s historical fiction at its finest, weaving together Japanese history with a gripping narrative. The books are set in feudal Japan, and Shogun introduces the central character, Blackthorne, an English navigator who’s shipwrecked on Japanese shores. I’d recommend reading them in order, as each book builds on the previous one, but you could still appreciate the story if you read them separately. Some people say Tai-Pan and Noble House are also excellent, but for the full experience, the order is key. The series does take its time to develop, but it’s worth sticking with it. If you’re looking for an in-depth review or a bit of insight before diving in, you might want to check out this blog post I came across: https://booksrun.com/blog/shogun-book-series-by-james-clavell/ . It’s a great resource for getting more details on the series and its impact.

I was just trying to find something new to read, and this series seems like the perfect choice. I’ve heard of Shogun, but I wasn’t sure if it would be my kind of read, but after hearing more about it, I’m sold! I love how you’ve explained the pacing and how the story develops. The blog you suggested also looks like it has a lot of useful info, so I’m definitely going to check that out. It’s exactly the kind of resource I’ve been searching for.
