anyone know if you could use to get a po box or pick up mail? does the post office scan or just ask to see?

You can. I know some people who have, but if you get caught be aware that it will be considered fraud. I wouldn't recommend. Rather, I'd just find a drop location if you really need the anonymity.

If you don,t on how to use the post office, that is not a big delay. You can go to your email and carte your message and send it to a post office. I also use it for my bronax shoes company to manage employees.
