Advice Needed: Preparing for a New Puppy ( self )

Hi folks, I’m planning to get a puppy soon, but I’m unsure where to start. I don’t know much about breeds or what to look for in a healthy pup. Should I adopt or go to a breeder? Also, what’s the best way to prepare my home for their arrival? Any advice is welcome!
